The grass withers, the flower fades,

Because the breath of the Lord blows upon it;

Surely the people are grass.

The grass withers, the flower fades,

But the word of our God stands forever.”

He will feed His flock like a shepherd;

He will gather the lambs with His arm,

And carry them in His bosom,

And gently lead those who are with young.

Isaiah 40:7-8, 11

Lord come near

hear my prayer

I need my Shepherd

go before this weakened soul

cut through all I need to let go

and bring me to Your promised land

where I may be at peace, once again.

Though I walk in this shadow of death

with thanksgiving I will hold Your hand

there’s no other place I’d rather be

than with my Savior, safe, at peace, and free.

Naptime is my favorite part of the day. I closed my eyes. I dreamed I was walking with Jesus.

As we walked hand-in-hand through a meadow, the tall grasses taller than me, made it impossible to see where we were going.

Tears cascaded down my cheeks when Jesus let go of my hand. I didn’t understand why He was leaving me. Until I realized what He was doing.

With His bare hands, Jesus not only pushed the grass out of our way; He also slashed them to pieces, making a clear path for me to walk on.

Each broken limb became a steppingstone. Flat rock for my feet to traverse safely to my next dream.

This week let’s let Jesus be our ultimate guide. Remember, He always goes before us. There is no place He hasn’t already been. He will make a way where there seems to be no way. Let Him be the breath that lightens our loads, gives us hope, whispers peace upon our weary souls, and carries us when we are filled with fear.

God’s word stands forever. It will never fade, it will never fall, or fail. May we remember that no matter what happens, He is our provider, shepherd, and shelter.

Amen.

From My Heart to Yours,
Marcie 🙂

Sunday is November 1st!  I don’t know about you, but I’m so ready for holiday cheer in my life. This year is my 5th year of 30 Days of Thanksgiving. Each day I will write and share a poem about Thanksgiving with you. And, I’m doing it in a new way. I’ve added a new page to my website just for my poetic musings called Ponderings of the Poetic Heart. I can’t wait to share Thanksgiving with all of you.
