Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!
Psalm 27:14

THE GIFT OF WAITING

If God always gave us the answers
as soon as requests left our lips
then we wouldn’t receive the blessing
of waiting for presents from Him.
All good and perfect gifts come from above
But we must wait our turn
And in eager anticipation
Is lessons we need learn.
Don’t lose heart and don’t lose hope
Don’t go sneaking for hidden toys
The time for opening His treasures
Will be in His time and place
Then we will joyfully unwrap His praise!

Christmas is coming. Have you made your list? Checked it twice? The tree twinkles gaily with memories of the past that infuse our present. And here we sit, waiting eagerly for that one special day to open those beautifully wrapped gifts that lay under that tree taunting us with their red bows and snowman tags.  To you from me. Whatever could it be?  Just a peek…one little, teeny, tiny, itty, bitty, teensy weensy peek…won’t hurt…will it?

Waiting is hard work

Not just for life changing, life altering answers

It’s also in the anticipation of the good

The gifts that we are longing for.

We want it now – we know it is in the closet on the top shelf

Just a peek, please Lord?

We eagerly await for the day that we get that special gift, the blessing we’ve been waiting for.

Because waiting is hard work

It calls for patience and self-control on our part – because –

Opening the gift ahead of time, searching for the hiding place, and seeing what has been lovingly bought before they’ve had a chance to surprise us with it, keeps us from enjoying and appreciating that long awaited gift as much as we could have if we’d waited.

Yeah, waiting is hard work

But the reward and blessing we find when we open our gift from God is sweeter and better than anything we could imagine. His timing is always perfect. Always. He makes everything beautiful in HIS time.

I don’t know what you are waiting on from God right now but I do know this:

That even though waiting is hard work, it is also God’s way of making the beautiful happen in life. It is always worth the wait.
~
Lord, may we wait on You with our whole hearts with praise and
thanksgiving. May we seek You and worship You not just in the bad times,
but in the good times as well. For we know that all gifts from You are
good and perfect when we wait in Your timing to unwrap them. ~
Every
good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the
Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of
turning.  James 1:17
