If God always gave us the answers
as soon as requests left our lips
then we wouldn’t receive the blessing
of waiting for presents from Him.
All good and perfect gifts come from above
But we must wait our turn
And in eager anticipation
Is lessons we need learn.
Don’t lose heart and don’t lose hope
Don’t go sneaking for hidden toys
The time for opening His treasures
Will be in His time and place
Then we will joyfully unwrap His praise!

Waiting is hard work
Not just for life changing, life altering answers
It’s also in the anticipation of the good
The gifts that we are longing for.
We want it now – we know it is in the closet on the top shelf
Just a peek, please Lord?
We eagerly await for the day that we get that special gift, the blessing we’ve been waiting for.
Because waiting is hard work
It calls for patience and self-control on our part – because –
Opening the gift ahead of time, searching for the hiding place, and seeing what has been lovingly bought before they’ve had a chance to surprise us with it, keeps us from enjoying and appreciating that long awaited gift as much as we could have if we’d waited.
Yeah, waiting is hard work
But the reward and blessing we find when we open our gift from God is sweeter and better than anything we could imagine. His timing is always perfect. Always. He makes everything beautiful in HIS time.
I don’t know what you are waiting on from God right now but I do know this:
Lord, may we wait on You with our whole hearts with praise and
thanksgiving. May we seek You and worship You not just in the bad times,
but in the good times as well. For we know that all gifts from You are
good and perfect when we wait in Your timing to unwrap them. ~
good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the
Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of
turning. James 1:17

Thank you for this timely reminder. I'm learning that we don't wait alone. God sits with us, holding our hands, calming our hearts.
Marcie, I'm part of an online group called Do Not Depart (we're online and on Facebook under Lisa Burgess or Hide His Word). Anyway, we're memorizing Psalm 27 the next two months. This is a great post! So a propos.
A very beautiful way to put it. Thank you Nan 🙂
Jody, thank you so much for stopping by and taking the time to comment. I will most certainly look your group up. Psalm 27:14 is one of my favorite verses. Thank you for the encouragement. Blessings, ~Marcie
Jody, I was just looking at your groups and website and saw Psalm 27:1. I was praying it on my way home this evening as it was dark and foggy and I was asking God to be my light and salvation along with His Word being a lamp unto my feet. I did not remember that it was that Chapter and verse. How extraordinary that God would bring that to my mind and then you would post this. Thank you! ~Marcie
