But
I have this against you,
that you have abandoned the love you had at first.
Revelation 2:4 (ESV)

FALLING IN LOVE
Lord, if I am going to fall in love with You
it will need to be as this
gnawing, unsatisfied hunger pang in my
side from which Your red words flow.

Mingled in the water I’m supposed to sip
but can’t, because I’m too busy writing
Your name over and over like a love sick girl
longing for the kiss of her true loves lips, or,
the hug from the best friend she misses.
It’s only a matter of time until it all grows cold ―
until then if I can close my eyes tight
I can feel Your heart beat inside like a
drum vibrating and burning deep love
against my ear. Just hold me Lord.
I don’t want to ever be held by anything
again that isn’t written by Your pen.
Prayers that emanate from a soul
longing for the love no other can hold.
Lord, I’m falling in love with
My one true love, first love, only You.

There was a time when I
couldn’t wait to talk with God. I couldn’t wait to open my Bible and read His
words.  It seems like such a long time
ago and yet, I find myself there once again. Eager to snatch whatever time I can
with Him.
I hate that life has gotten
so busy. I want more than ever to have uninterrupted hours of prayer time and I
long to read God’s Words until my eyes and heart are overflowing.
Right now though, in this
season of my life, I have found that I must make a regular appointment time
with God every day. I must find a time for just the two of us.
There
is no one who can love us like God does. No one who can hold us and care for us
as He does. No matter where we are, what we are doing, or how we feel, He loves
us with such a special, everlasting love. And it’s the truest, most perfect
love there is. Not even my husband can love me as much, as deep, or as
unconditionally as God can.
Oh
how much we miss when we don’t spend time with our First Love! I’ve started
falling in love in my relationship with Jesus again. Valentine’s month seems
like the perfect time to start a new relationship with Him.

John
3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that
whoever believes in Him, should not perish but have everlasting life.”

That’s a pretty deep love. Will you believe in
Jesus and learn what it means to fall in love with Him today?

From My Heart to Yours,
