Welcome

Encouraging others in their writing careers is my happy place. I’ve dreamed those God-sized dreams and with God’s help I was able to accomplish them. And YOU CAN TOO!  I know how hard it is to put your words out into the world. I know the fear of wondering if our words will be rejected or accepted by those who read them. As an editor I love building authors up to help them write to their full potential. If you are serious about your writing career and you feel you are ready to launch out into the publishing world with your work, let’s look it over so you can cross the bridge over to the publishing world with a manuscript you can be proud of.

At this time, I only work with fiction, but I also help poets find their voice and give their poetry a place to speak.

I’ve been editing for several years. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English from Lenoir-Rhyne University. I am a Silver Member of The Christian Pen and I regularly attend writing conferences. I also work as an editor with Elk Lake Publishing.

Whether you are looking for someone to just proofread your work, or you need a professional editor to spruce up a manuscript for publication, it would be my pleasure to help you.

How I can help

I am available to help in the following areas:

  • Overall Critique – Analysis of your manuscript. This is to point out your manuscript’s strengths as well as the ways it can be improved before submitting it for publication. I’ll include specific examples from the manuscript and walk you through the reasoning behind the techniques that will make it stronger. This service does not include any editing on the manuscript itself.
  • Proofread – I don’t proofread often because I usually add them into my substantive edits. If you haven’t done a copyedit or a substantive edit, you’re not ready for a proofread as it is the last edits done to a manuscript. Proofreading is intended to correct errors made during typesetting, formatting, or file conversion of the final document and will identify any serious errors not caught during copyediting.
  • Substantive/Structural Edit – This is a detailed edit of your manuscript. Every word, punctuation mark, sentence, and paragraph is analyzed to ensure correctness. If you are committed to publishing a work that is accurate, flows well, is consistent, has a good pace and reads well, a thorough line-by-line copyedit should be your first choice.

Currently I work with fiction, children’s books, and poetry.
