Pondering The Poetic Heart
Pondering the Poetic Heart is a place to guide our spirits into place of contemplative rest. As a poet, I long to encourage you to find hope and healing through the process of reflecting on God, love, life, and all things that capture the spirit through the written word.
In the month of November, I will lead us through a time of thanksgiving through my 30 Days of Thanksgiving Poems. In December we will ring the bells of Christmas. There will also be other times through the year when we will celebrate love, just for fun poetry, and more. I pray this will be a place of loving contentment for all of us.
A Basketful of Blessings

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23
Thanksgiving Prayer
30 Days of Thanksgiving Poems, Day 12
As friends and family gather around
This Thanksgiving may our hearts abound
With love and laughter and the gifts of the heart
For another year God did impart.
Counting Blessings
30 Days of Thanksgiving Poems, Day 11
How abundant are the good things
that you have stored up for those who fear you,
that you bestow in the sight of all,
on those who take refuge in you.
Psalm 31:19 (NIV)
In the Shadow of Death
30 Days of Thanksgiving Poems, Day 10
Even in the valley of the shadow of death
there is a peace that brings forth thankfulness
as Your hand guides and holds us firm. . .
No Wasted Tears
30 Days of Thanksgiving Poems, Day 9
For all the days you cried
thinking no one cared
for all the tears you shed
late at night, lying in your bed
for every drop that dripped
down your crimson cheeks
and every time you cried
looking for sweet relief
Answer the Call
30 Days of Thanksgiving Poems, Day 7
Thanksliving, it’s not
a one time deal
take this moment, don’t hesitate
all you have to do is whisper His name.
When Gratitude Comes Knocking (but we don’t answer)
30 Days of Thanksgiving Poems, Day 6
There’s a thankfulness here somewhere
a gratefulness of ... what? I’m not sure.
But somewhere inside the girl’s house
is the key that unlocks every doubt
The Nature of Thanksgiving
30 Days of Thanksgiving Poems Day 5
I wish I’d known it was raining
I would have laid down under it
Let the heavens shower me
with the love of all the ages.
