Pondering The Poetic Heart
Pondering the Poetic Heart is a place to guide our spirits into place of contemplative rest. As a poet, I long to encourage you to find hope and healing through the process of reflecting on God, love, life, and all things that capture the spirit through the written word.
In the month of November, I will lead us through a time of thanksgiving through my 30 Days of Thanksgiving Poems. In December we will ring the bells of Christmas. There will also be other times through the year when we will celebrate love, just for fun poetry, and more. I pray this will be a place of loving contentment for all of us.
Under the Old Oak Tree
Today's poem is a thankfulness for memories. For love. For devotion. For friendship. For life.
Under the old oak tree
roots that grow deep
strengthen the land
holding its hand.
Under the old oak tree
a worn bench sits
waiting its turn
to nurture friendship. . .
A Heart of Thanks
I love the idea of Thanksliving. This is living each day with an attitude of gratitude whether we feel like it or not.
. . .Thanksliving is daily seeking the good
A time to pause and sit with the Lord
Brings joy to the weary, troubled soul
A heart of Thanksgiving brings a greater Thanksliving. . .
Soul Restoration
When anger gives over to restoration, rejuvenation, peace and contentment.
. . .as the wind sweeps softly anew
and the bondage of darkness
is given over to the brightest day
a rainbow promise of God’s forgiving grace. . .
Eternal Blessings
The midnight sky, stars that twinkle, rain, snowflakes . . . sometimes we take them for granted and other times we stare in wonderment. But either way, they are kisses from heaven we can be thankful for.
There=s so many blessings to be found
Your goodness and faithfulness abound
Your blessings, Lord, they fall on me
But truly I cannot count the ways.
Home Sweet Quiet Home
What would happen if we turned it all off? All of our electronics, all of our thoughts, all of our burdens. I wonder . . .
Turn off the television
hide the remote
shut down the computer
sit back on the couch
sip a cup of joe
or tea or cocoa
listen to the music
of silence in your home. . .
God Loves You
Did you know God has written you a love letter? Each and every day, rain or shine, He has made the day just for you.
The sunrise in the morning
moon beams to light your way
skies of blue, cotton candy clouds
flowers to brighten your day.
Soft summer glow of firelight
drifting of snow in winter’s flight
seasons changing, ever bringing
God’s love letter in every hue.
Yearning for God
Today I was reminded how important it is to go back to my faith as a child and look at God's word in a whole new light. Like I've never read it before.
Sometimes I think I’ve heard it all
there’s nothing more to learn
but it’s become clear
God has so much more for me to hear. . .
Joy, Peace & Love
A poem to conjure up the feelings of peace and tranquility in thankfulness of home.
Great is the table where loved ones meet
the love of family and friends ever sweet
Grateful, so thankful, to the Lord up above
for another year overflowing with joy, peace, and love.
