How many Christmas songs or lyrics can you spot in my poem?
A Creative Christmas Hymn
Do you hear what I hear?
The blind will see, the deaf will hear
The dead will live again.
The lame will leap, the dumb will speak
The praises of the Lamb!
Come ― they told me
But what shall I bring?
I’ll bring Him my heart
In this winter wonderland so stark.
And in this silent night … holy night
Tell me the story of Jesus, please,
How Thou did leave Thy throne
And Thy kingly crown
Away in a manger ― no room in the inn ―
A little babe settled down.
O little town of Bethlehem
Did you not see the star?
The first noel is being sung
And you sleep in heavenly peace
Even though
you know not whom this is for.
Three kings of Orient, wise men proclaim
Joy to the world is upon us today.
O come, all ye faithful
As with gladness men of old
Light a thousand candles bright
Mary’s boy child has been born.
Come on, ring those bells!
Joy to the world! Shiloh has come!
Hark the herald angels sing
May we receive this King.
O holy night, when the stars shine bright,
Mary nods as I play my drum—
Pa rum pum pum pum—
I have no gift to bring so I shall sing
Glad tidings of this newborn King.
Please, tell me again,
Tell me the story of Jesus so I can
Write on my heart each and every word;
And as chestnuts roast on an open fire
I anticipate Christmas Day,
Not for all the presents to be received
But for other treasures I’ll find under the tree.
That more than Santa Claus coming to town
Or the sleigh bell rides I will take
My precious, precious Savior
Becomes more than an heirloom to me.
