“We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,”

2 Corinthians 10:5

It’s such a grey day Lord

colors have faded

no sun in the sky

I wonder if the clouds

will weep from on high?

I’m trying to smile

trying to be brave

but it is so hard

When it’s such a dreary grey day.

Dear Lord, can You tell me

show me the way

Help me think of

Something to be thankful for today?

She was brave.

She doesn’t think she was brave. But she was.

I know she feels like a failure. I know she feels like she let me down—and herself. I know she thinks she’s ruined her young life.

None of those could be further from the truth.

The fact is, she gave it a try. She gave it a shot. Was it everything we hoped it would be? No. Are we disappointed? Most definitely. But, there is always hope.

As I sit here hours later reflecting upon the day, I realize how disappointed I really am. I can’t deny that. But what I can deny—must deny—are the lies Satan is trying to get me to dwell on.

Satan wants us to believe it was not a success. He wants me to get depressed and discouraged and weary. Satan is throwing fiery darts as fast as he can.

Isn’t that the way it is? We get a victory in our life, but instead of living victoriously, we wallow in the reasons why it all went wrong. We give in to the bad thoughts. We dwell on the negative.

But what if, instead of letting our thoughts drag us down, keeping us from living an abundant life, we focus our attention on Jesus? What if, instead of wallowing and pouting, we open our Bibles and turn our thoughts to the truth?

The truth is, I am a good mom. The truth is, there was a victory today. Small, yet huge. Because had she not tried at all, we would have never known how much help she really needs. The truth is, we were both brave.

My prayer today is God will give us strength to try again. God will give us wisdom in how to proceed from here. God will lead us to the people who can help us move forward.

Are you feeling discouraged today? Are you in need of something that will uplift your thoughts and your heart?

Pray God will give you the right thoughts, attitude, and heart. Praise Him for everything you can think of to be thankful for. Turn your eyes and your mind onto Jesus and find your strength in Him. This is hope. This is faith. This is His love in us.

He did it for me, He will do it for you too.

From My Heart to Yours,

Marcie
