As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,
rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught,
abounding in it with thanksgiving.
Colossians 2:6-7

It all started with a challenge. A challenge I didn’t know how to play.

Ten years ago I learned about a writing challenge called NaNoWRiMo, or National Novel Writing Month. Each year in the month of November, writers were challenged to write a 50,000 word novel in one month. For those of you whom are not writers, this is a high goal, as most novels this long take several months—and depending on the writer—up to a year. Many writers took on the challenge and many succeeded. (Unfortunately the organization that founded this shut down last year).

But, I am not a novel writer. I write poetry. What could I do?

Now, mind you, at that time I had not even heard of NaPoWriMo, National Poetry Writing Month, which is held yearly in April.

So, I came up with an idea. Why couldn’t I challenge myself to writing a new poem every day for 30 days? And with it being in November, why not make them about Thanksgiving?

November 1, 2015, 30 Days of Thanksgiving Poems was born. This year we get to celebrate TEN YEARS of new poems.

Let the celebration begin with my very first Thanksgiving poem…

Living Thanksgiving

There is a blessing that rains down
When thanks-living becomes our crown
With hearts of gratitude each day we give
Thanksgiving ingrains the way we live.

Every year I pray the words I write will touch hearts and be an encouragement to all who read them and help you find the spirit of Thanksgiving and Christmas in your hearts.

From My Heart to Yours,
Marcie
