And I had to nod with agreement in understanding.
They say, “Home is where the heart is,” but when you move so much in life that you can’t call one single place home, it becomes hard to feel at home even when you’ve lived in the same place for more years than you have anywhere else.
Oh how I understand. But I got to thinking about it and something occurred to me:
Paul says that he learned to be content no matter where he was. Do you know where Paul was when he wrote those words? Paul was in jail. How in the world do you find contentment in jail?
Because his contentment was not found in what he wanted or even what he had. Paul’s contentment was found in Jesus Christ. So no matter whether he abounded in things or was in great need, whether he was free or in jail, whether he was hungry or had plenty, Paul was at peace with his life because he placed his trust in Christ.
to live in such happiness and bliss
everything goes as planned
and nothing is ever amiss?
While such dreams can be pleasant

they are just a wistful notion
never to be given a place.
Contentment isn’t found in the wanting
but in our security through Jesus Christ
when we put all of our trust
in His provisions for our life.
When our hearts become discontented
we must let Jesus be our guide
to the peace that passes understanding
only He can provide.

I could go back to California but I have to agree with my best friend who said, “I bet if you go back there you wouldn’t feel at home anymore. Too much has changed since then.” Sounds like great wisdom to me.
I can go to any place on this earth I think might make me happy and contented, but if God is not with me, if I don’t place my trust in Him and let Him provide for me, then I’ll never know contentment in life.
Contentment is not in the wanting. Contentment is not found in dreaming. Contentment is not the greener grass.
Home truly is where the heart is. Because if your treasures are laid up (stored) in heaven, there will your heart be also.**
Is home REALLY where the heart is? @Marcie_Bridges shares where to find contentment in life
Contentment isn’t found in wanting or dreaming-it’s found in Jesus Christ
This is written so well Marcie. Thank you for your words of wisdom. I love you 🙂
Amen, Marcie!
We can always be content, no matter where we find ourselves, if we trust in the comfort and presence of Jesus.
Blessings!
It's exciting to see God working out this truth in your life, dear friend!
This is so very true. Home is where the heart is, as long as my heart is lined up with King Jesus, I will find contentment.
