My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love,

so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding,

in order that they may know the mystery of God,

namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the

treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Colossians 2:2-3

Hidden in the richest soil
deep in the heart of earth
down in the pit of seed
through the twining of roots and weeds

Hidden in the caves and crevices
buried in sands trampled and worn
sunken in deepest waters
lay treasures too grand to ignore.

Where once we played in the meadow
frolicking through grasses tall
birds singing, bees buzzing, flowers dancing
we found the greatest song of all.

Yet we never dig for the gold
too good to be true we say
we never dive after the ruins
too hard, too lofty, too brave.

But we don’t have to go far to find it
we don’t have to sail oceans wide
all we need is mustard seed faith
with prayer to the One Who provides.

Because you can’t have what you don’t go after
you can’t be if you don’t dream
you can’t do if you don’t pursue
you can’t live if you fear in disbelief.

Now faith is the things that we hope for
faith is believing ‘He will’ without sight
faith is going without knowing
without faith it’s impossible to please God.

Armor on, pray without ceasing
focusing our mind solely on Jesus
go find the things you are seeking
the treasures only found in Him.

“Knowledge speaks – Wisdom listens.” ~Jimi Hendrix

I don’t remember where I saw this quote. All I know is it drew me like a mosquito to a bug zapper.

I think when I wrote this poem (after reading the quote above) I was working on creating the idea that we have so much knowledge but we never dig for the wisdom underneath it.

We dream but we don’t pursue the dream. We know we need to have faith in God, but we lose that faith when we lose sight of—or don’t feel—God in our life.

Often we have the knowledge we need to do things or we believe we know all we need to know in order to make decisions. Knowing is a good thing. Knowledge is a powerful thing.

Wisdom becomes the treasure.

I don’t want to just dream a dream. I want to fulfill that dream.
I don’t want to know about God. I want to seek Him with my whole heart.
I don’t want to write about God. I want to inspire and encourage others to seek after Him.

Wisdom goes deeper. It whispers. It waits to be spoken. Wisdom is the thoughts that come after agonizing prayer. Through much counsel. It comes in the quiet.

Are you in the midst of trying to make a decision? Ecclesiastes 3:7b says, “[there is] A time to keep silence, And a time to speak;”. Do you need to find a quiet place and seek God’s wisdom? Is your faith flagging a bit? Perhaps it is time to dig deeper into your heart and find the treasure God is planting within you.

From My Heart to Yours,
Marcie

Thank you for all of your messages and emails with your encouragement and prayers this week as I battled through migraines. You all blessed my heart so much with your kind words and support. God bless you richly.
