“I love you.”
“I love you more.”
“Not possible. I love you more.”
“Nope. I love you mostest.”
“But I gave birth to you. I love you more than anything.”
“You’re my mother. I love you more than the stars in the sky.”
“Not even close. I loved you when you were just a wish in my heart.”
Maybe this is familiar to you in some way? The conversation continues on with each other trying to prove you love the other person more.
But that’s the thing about a mother’s love. It is deeper, wider, higher, longer than any other love on this universe. Some mothers show it more often or better than others, but deep down we love our children more than life itself. It isn’t something we can explain to anyone. It just is.
Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to have such a conversation with Jesus. He would win hands down though you know?
I’ll never be able to cleanse another of their sins. I’ll most likely never [literally] give my life for another human being. I’ll never heal them of disease or shelter them in the midst of their crises.
Only Jesus can love like that. Only Jesus gave His life, was buried, and rose again, so that we might be redeemed in Him.
I could tell You that I do from now throughout eternity.
But my words and my actions are never enough
because how do I know what truly is love?
Have I ever laid down my life for You
or formed You in my womb?
No, I’ll never love You Lord as much as You do.
But Lord I love You as much as I can
I live by Your commands
I trust in You, I remain faithfully Yours,
from now as time endures.
I give You my heart and my soul
to You alone I pledge it all – the whole
Lord, I’ll love You until the day I die
and I thank You dear Lord, for giving me life.
Not just at birth but again from sins death
You’ve been my great hope with each intake of breath
Is there anything more I can do or say
that will prove to You Lord I will love you always?

I have to agree, Marcie, there is no love ever greater than Jesus' love for us. I'll keep you in prayer for the coming week!
Blessings!
Beautiful reflection. Thank you.
