In the Light of Thanksgiving

In the light of Thanksgiving

it’s easy to give thanks

when with family and friends

around full tables and plates.

In the light of Thanksgiving

peace can abound

with joy in our hearts

and love spilling all around.

But when the sun goes down

there’s not a peep or a sound

the light of thanksgiving

can become a darkened feeling.

This is the time to sit by yourself

grab some cocoa, find your Bible

seek the One who’s your help.

There’s no better way

to end this month of Thanksgiving

than to open your heart

to the One who can impart

words of love to your soul

and truth to your heart.
