INCLINE MY EAR

Mine ears

Though deaf in this world

Listen for Your words

Softly, whispering

My name.

Closing my eyes

In prayer

I turn my ear to You

Straining to hear

Your sweet voice.

Speaking promises to my

Weary heart

Tenderly, lovingly, gently.

It comes quietly

I almost miss it

With ears that cannot hear…

But

The ear of my heart

Feels the breath of Your Spirit

Tickling in its closeness

O Lord,

I have heard You

Early in the morning

And I bow down to You

In this holy hour.

For my deaf ears

Have been opened

To hear the melody

Of Your grace

Flowing down like

A gentle, refreshing

Spring rain.

*Incline: cause to bow down, bend, wear away. Instructing us to pay attention, focus on, concentrate on the wisdom of God’s Words. Bend your ear. Listen closely.

My son, give attention to my words;
Incline your ear to my sayings.
 Do not let them depart from your eyes;
Keep them in the midst of your heart;
For they are life to those who find them,
And health to all their flesh.

Proverbs 4:20-22
