I said, “Oh, that I had the wings of a dove!
I would fly away and be at rest.
I would flee far away
and stay in the desert;
I would hurry to my place of shelter,
far from the tempest and storm.”

Psalm 55:6-8

Little birdie on the fence
perched precariously against the wind
I’m so blessed to hear you sing
you trill your song so beautifully.

How I wish I could be just like you
brave enough to let the howling wind
carry me away with its own strong wings…

Suddenly, you dropped out of sight
I thought you were gone, I was terrified,
but then…

you beat your wings against the current
stood strong upon wrought iron once more
cocked your head at me, as if to say,
(maybe even with a smirk upon your beak)
“I’m stronger than you took me for.”

April is National Poetry Month! The end of March and beginning of April are so busy for me, I often forget to participate in writing poetry during this month. So, here is my first offering. I was sitting in my car, eating lunch, when this little bird joined me and I just had to take a few pictures. She’s the inspiration for this poem. I hope it lifts your spirits and gives you a bit of hope.Or, maybe just give you a smile or two.

From My Heart to Yours,

Marcie 🙂
