Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be
whiter than snow. Make me hear joy and gladness, That the bones You
have broken may rejoice. Hide Your face from my sins, And blot out all
my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast
spirit within me
. Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not
take Your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of Your salvation,
And uphold me by Your generous Spirit.
Psalm 51:7-12

Somewhere down the hall, doors are slamming, children running and shouting, an elevator dings welcoming visitors into its suffocating space.
But room 217 is quiet. Quiet in a holy hush that has been made a refuge for one who needs the refreshment of THE HOLY. This room is a sanctuary. Its bed a haven for prayers and tears, its walls keeping secrets, and its windows capturing God’s answers to the pleadings of a heart searching for Him.

There is refuge for the yearning heart. There is Living Water for the deserted, parched, gnawing soul. But we must seek it. We will not find it until we desire it.

“Seek the Lord while He may be found,
call upon Him while He is near” ¹. . .

The invitation is open. It never closes. Until you close it.

He’s always waiting for us to come to Him, to seek Him, to find Him, to draw close to Him. He is waiting to forgive, cleanse, and mend. He’s waiting at the end of the road always watching in anticipation for us to come running to Him asking to be His child once again. ²

We don’t deserve this grace. No. But He is offering it to us.

And we can come just as we are. Just as we are we can come, kneel, bend our hearts and heads to accept His invitation of life. Resurrection only happens when we die first.

PRAYER OF A
BROKEN SPIRIT

Create in my heart, Lord,
a secret place
a clean slate
a space to receive Your grace.

Where Your Living Water

flows in trickling drops
touching each parched spot
cleansing the uttermost blot.

Create in me, O God,
a clean heart
whiter than snow
purer than gold.

That my spirit may be
refreshed, renewed, released
joyful in salvation’s tune
singing Your praises today
in thankfulness, rejoicing always.

Find refreshment in the joy of our salvation through the cleansing of a
contrite, broken, spilled out spirit to God.
He’s waiting. Will you come?
From My Heart to Yours,
