And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
Colossians 3:15-17
While I’m away this week on vacation I have one goal in mind. Okay, two goals.
My first goal is to be very intentional in seeing how God works and where He is at work. To listen to His voice. To seek Him in everything and in all ways.
I have brought my Bible, journal, new pens and pencils, and writing tablets. I am in pursuit of God wholeheartedly this week.
My second goal is to just have fun.
So for this week, I want to begin with a poem of thanksgiving to our Lord. I want to begin this time with Him in gratitude. For in all we do, we should and need to do it with a heart of thankfulness.
But I don’t want to do it just because I should or need to. I want to do it because I want to. I desire to. Life lived with an ungrateful spirit brings a body down. It causes our minds to wander off to ideas and attitudes that are unhealthy. When we don’t give an attitude of gratefulness, we cannot receive it either.
With that in mind, let’s begin this week praising and thanking God for who He is, what He’s done, and what He’s going to do. Once we begin giving thanks, it sure is hard to keep a grumpy attitude within our heearts.
Won’t your heart join mine today in thanksgiving to the Lord?
Dear God,
Thank You for the sun and the clouds that create shapes
Thank You for the stars, You know them all by name.
Thank You for the moon, the tides it gravitates
Thank You for all the creatures that You’ve made.
Thank You for the oceans that never run dry
Thank You for the flowers their colors delight my eyes.
Thank You for the trees their shadows shelter me
Thank You for each breeze that gives us sweet relief.
Thank You for my family and my friends all so dear
Thank You for the blessing of bringing us through this year.
Thank You for the sorrows, giving us new depths of faith
Thank You for the joys, all the memories You create.
Thank You Lord for each new day, mercies new and grace
Thank You Lord for giving me a sacred, secret place.
Thank You Lord for listening to the many prayers I’ve prayed
Thank You Lord for loving me each and every day.
Thank You Jesus for the cross, Your life willingly gave
Thank You Jesus for Your sacrifice, salvation’s only way
Thank You Jesus for conquering death’s hellish grave
Thank You Jesus Your risen form gives hope to all today.
There’s so much to be thankful for, so many things to say
May I sum it up at once…
Thank You God for everything.
A gratitude attitude . . . Love this, Marcie! Have a wonderful vacation!
