The houses on my street are quiet
some dark as night inside
some with soft-dimmed light
others glow from every window bright
there’s a rustle among tree leaves
a hint of snow in the air
birds chirping happy songs
while autumn hums along
every few driveways cars pack in
laughter emanates from open panes
thanksgiving is exhaled in simple prayers
as we carry memories from year to year
slowly the night settles with a sigh
stars glitter in their twinkle, wink and smile
they know their presence brings peace
the magic of Christmas has come with glee
and as I close my eyes this solemn night
I hear the swish, swish hush of leaves
as they settle in a final fall
the ground welcoming this blanket
of warmth from the cold.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him,
so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.*
From My Heart to Yours,
Marcie
