“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find;
knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives,
and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
Matthew 7:7-8
Ugly and brown
the door hung too long
years had taken their toll
weathered and worn
used no more.
The stains of the world
battered into its steel
dints, dings, paint peeling
hinges stuck, needing oil
the poor door had no hope.
One day, out of the blue,
its owner took pity
gave it a fresh coat of paint
covering its harsh stains
now white, is its uplifted hue.
No more sad in its standing
even though the family
still doesn’t use it any
it loves the clean feeling
and is proud to be the front entry.
My friend if you’re feeling
ugly and brown and
you don’t know what to do
knock on heaven’s white door
seek Jesus once more
and I promise, He’ll open
His door just for you.

“Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow;”1 when you seek Jesus with all your heart, mind, and soul.
If you already have Jesus in your heart, but you feel far from Him, and you don’t know what to do in whatever situation you are in, knock on His door. He’s waiting for you.
Ask — it will be given
Seek — and you will find
Knock — and it [the door] will be opened
Sometimes I lament I cannot hear God’s voice. He isn’t answering my prayers. He doesn’t seem to even know I exist. But the question I must ask myself is this: Am I seeking God with my whole heart, or am I just throwing a quick prayer into the air hoping He’ll hear me and reply?
Jeremiah 29:13 states, “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” Did you catch that? “When you search for Me with all your heart.”
Not half-hearted. Not a flip of a coin or a toss of wish. No, it must be, with your WHOLE heart.
May we open the door of this new year seeking God with our whole hearts, minds, and souls, letting Him give us a fresh coat of Grace Paint. Clean, fresh, white, and His.
From My Heart to Yours,
Marcie 🙂
