Day 7

Worship the King

Away in a manger

many years ago

lay a little baby boy

born to change the world.

Shepherd’s and wisemen

came to adore

donkeys and sheep

kept watch at the door.

When what to their astonished

eyes did they see

a man in red clothing

on a reindeer approaching.

With a wink and nod

and a twinkle in his eye

he bowed low to the ground

worshipping Jesus His King.

Then with a smile He said

“My present to you

I hope you’ll accept

is making your birthday

each year the very best.

I want to celebrate

your birth with the world

do you mind if I give gifts

to all girls and boys?”

Little boy Jesus

as sweet as can be

climbed into his lap

and gave him a squeeze.

Then with belly of laughter

Saint Nick strode out of sight

proclaiming “Merry Christmas to all

and to all a good night!”

Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Philippians 2:9-11

I know this may be a bit far-fetched (depending on a person’s understanding of the history of Santa Claus or Saint Nicklaus). I just wanted to make a poem that would hopefully give you a smile and an image of something you might not have thought of before: Santa worshipping Jesus.

I love Christmas and I am thankful for this time when we have the most joyful music and a time to be with family and friends. What a wonderful way to end the year!
