In the Stillness
In the stillness of the day
Lord, breathe Your breath on me
bring me comfort, bring me peace
whisper words of love serene.
In the stillness, in the quiet,
whether morning, noon, or night
Lord, breathe Your breath on me
may I hear each whisper that You speak.
Lord, remind us to remember that You care. Remind us that You love us and that You’re thinking of us.
A Loving Message Just For You
I want Jesus to whisper into your ear, no, your heart the truth. The unvarnished truth of who you are and what you mean to Him.
You are special. Beyond compare.
You are loved more than the birds of the air.
You are important and you are needed
You are a gem still being created.
You are a treasure worth more than gold
You are a gift to all.
Just a Whisper
There is a hush. A calm. Swish, swish, swish. A gentle breeze floating across the water.
Minutes ago a storm raged billowing the sea. Tumultuous waves bore down upon the boat causing it to careen dangerously to the side. The men on the boat clung to whatever they could get their hands on in their frightened state.
Could this be the end of their lives? Will they survive?
The Call of Thunder
It started low. Off in the distance. The bass line to a symphony in minor keys. Mournfully winds began to sing the opening lyrics.
Time slowed down. The rumble got louder. A flash across the sky.
Earth,
inhales God’s breath
exhales His voice
speaking His words
setting poetry within the soul.
God in all of His majesty, in all of His authority, is commanding me through the orchestra of His creation to give Him attention and to praise Him even in the midst of the storm.
Quiet Relief
The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
Psalm 18:2
What do I say?
What do I write you haven’t heard before?
What words would make you open this email instead of that one?
What emotions can I relay causing your heart to beat a little faster, a little harder, and tears to come?
Forsaken is a word that comes to mind. Abandoned. Disappointed. Broken. Depths of despair.
But not hopeless. Never hopeless.
Because when hopeless enters the room that is when it is time to pack our bags and go…
The Truest Love
The truest love
there ever was
hung upon a tree
His initials carved
with love
in blood and agony
Greater than any
forever love
through ages of history.
His love reaches down through the pages of ages and flows to the hearts of every person who reads and believes in His words. The one who accepts His gift and treasures it always.
Lord, I’m Coming
It’s Sunday morning and instead of being in a pew I’m curled up in the corner of the couch staring at the ceiling. Events from early morning keeping me up later than I normally would be, I completely forgot to set my alarm. Waking up just minutes before I’d need to leave for church.
So I’m all curled up in the corner of the couch staring at the ceiling my thoughts circling like the swirling pattern etched up there.
You bid me come
sit at Your table
feast from Your hand
lay down in green pastures
linger beside Your still waters
and rest.
Fractured But Not Broken
My daughter asked me what a stress fracture is. I told her it’s like a crack in the ground. It starts out small, but over time it gets bigger and widens until it suddenly breaks open becoming a hole in the ground.
In order to keep my foot from breaking further, I am wearing an orthopedic boot. This boot fits snuggly, keeping my foot from bending, giving me security to walk.
How do we walk securely with God? What keeps us from completely breaking apart when we feel so fractured?
My Story, My Song ~ How to Find God in Our Crisis of Belief
But I think I understand now. And I’ve learned that no matter how long a person has been saved, there may come a time in their life when they don’t believe God will do what He says He will do. So, What is your story? What is your song? Do you know in Whom you believe?
