“Listen to this, O Job;

Stand still and consider the wondrous works of God.”

Job 37:14

Good Ol’ Job (Or, Lessons from Job)

Can you reach the stars

pluck one from its place

hold it in your hand

put it back in its space?

Can you take an hour

make time stand still

what would you do with it

what all would you fulfill?

Can you take a drop of water

make it fill the world abroad

just one drop of liquid

to quench the thirst of all?

Can you pinch a grain of sand

or catch a snowflake from the air

keep them for eternity

without sifting and melting them?

Oh the wonders of this world

God has created for you and me

there are no words, no expressions

there’s only this one thing…

Grateful hallelujah’s

in praise to God above

for His glorious creation

made with His commanding love.

Standing at the edge of the ocean and staring out at the ever expanding sea I wonder, why in the world God would ever even think of me compared to all this glory?

And I know I’m not alone in these thoughts. Job seemed just as amazed in wonderment of it all.

In Job’s distress he ventured to tell His God how small he felt. And in reply, God asked Him all kinds of questions like…

Did you form the world? Can you make it do this and that? Did you create the animals? (Job 37-42).

Of course, Job had to say no. But he also realized in those moments, God doesn’t do anything small. Everything God does is for a purpose whether we see that purpose or not.

Sometimes we’re so intent on finding the forest, we miss the trees. We are so consumed with our despair or circumstances, we miss what God is doing in that moment.

But how DO we see what He is doing? Where do we look? What do we do?

PRAY. Pray for God to reveal Himself to you. He has never failed to show up when I have asked Him point blank to reveal Himself to me.

READ GOD’S WORDS. Ask God to open His word up to you. And even if it is something you’ve read a hundred – thousand – gazillion times, ask Him to show you something new you’ve never seen before in that chapter, or to remind you of the lessons you’ve learned in the past.

PRAISE HIM! Turn on some praise music and just praise Him. I mean, REALLY enjoy HIM!

When we pray, read, and praise, our attitude changes and we begin to see Him. In all kinds of places and all kinds of ways. He is there. I promise.

From My Heart to Yours,

Marcie 🙂

P.S. Take a gander through Job 37-42 sometime this week. I know it will bless your socks off!
