Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.
The Lord is my strength and song,
And He has become my salvation.
This is the day the Lord has made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:1,14 & 24
THIS IS THE DAY
You wanted Spring and here it is
I brought it to you on the wind
Trees are budding, flowers blooming
Grasses greening, Spring is springing.
The dead of winter over now
Rain is refreshing dry cracked grounds
Birds trilling love songs to the air
New love is flowing everywhere.
In this world all lost and lonely
God has given His love so fully
Peek outside your open windows
This is a new day the Lord has made
Let us rejoice and be glad in it!

Suddenly, the skies are blue with white fluffy clouds. Winds are calm and pink buds are making their debut. Yellow tulips are popping up all over the place and little purple poppies are boldly making themselves here at home.
It’s been quite the “weathery winter” this time around hasn’t it? And while parts of the U.S. are still under snow and water, and more is yet to come, we can rest assured in this promise: the salvation of the Lord is upon us.
Spring is a time of renewal. Many of us will do what is called Spring cleaning. Ridding our houses of dust and grime that accumulated over the Winter. Sometimes this consists of a thorough going over from top to bottom while for others, it is simply getting rid of a few things and just making everything sparkle a little more than it did before.
Springtime is a great time to exam our hearts. Do we have things in our hearts and minds that are not pleasing to the Lord? Perhaps the many months of cold and snow dampened our spiritual lives as well as our physical selves?
In 1 John 1:9 we are encouraged to confess our sins to God who is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us of all unrighteousness. When we do this, we become a new creation. Have you ever thought of that?
2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” Each time we repent of our sins and turn from them, we become a new creation in Christ. Each time we confess, God cleanses our hearts of sin, then we (our hearts) become whiter than snow. And this is when new things can grow within us, because we don’t have anything hindering us from receiving the water of life flowing inside of us.
Because Jesus is our salvation, and He is the one who creates new life within us, we can truly say, “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
Each day is such a gift from God. And while we may have lingering droughts of our soul from the Winter time, now is the time to Spring forward, get a little Spring Fever in our souls, do a little Spring cleaning, and feel His new life flowing through our veins.
For this, we can rejoice and be glad.
