Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
Psalm 20:7
Far be it from me
to languish into despair
when all the world about me
has its own cross to bear.
Precious is this life we live
precious are the gifts we give
like diamonds in the glinting sun
we shine brightest when we’re not alone.
To trust is the hardest thing
to believe in God seems easy
but how can I trust in the One
who controls the seas, the wind, the sun?
If I don’t trust Him
then where will I turn
when chaos and confusion
come knocking and beating against my house?
Yet in my wonderings
and in my deepest ponderings
I know in my heart and my mind
The God who has made me
He will sustain me
I can trust in Him
all the time.

As the aftermath of Hurricane Helene has devastated those of us who live in NC, as well as Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, and even Virginia to Ohio, I think many of us have wondered: Where is God in all of this?
And now, Hurricane Milton is ravaging Florida. The images are so hard to watch and our minds cannot seem to grasp the enormity of it all.
I use “us” and “we” because I am sure I’m not the only one still reeling from this. Still trying to figure out what happened and what we should do now.
We trust. We God to help us get through the devastation. We trust God to lead us to whom we need to help and how we can help them. We trust God to give us wisdom and peace through this troubling time.
When King David didn’t understand what was happening to him, or when he was in the throes of despair, what did he do? He put his faith and trust in God.
So while some trust in government to get them through this disaster, may we find ourselves trusting and believing in God to sustain us and provide for our need.
From My Heart to Yours,
Marcie
