Merry Christmas!
Light of the World
bring Christmas to my heart
shine through me
brighter than lights on the Christmas tree
move me closer
to the manger where You lay
may Your peace
be in me each and every day.

Merry Christmas dear readers!
When Your Christmas Miracle Is Just Out Of Reach
There are some dreams or answers to prayer we can see, smell, and taste, but it seems just out of our reach. We know it is right there. If only, we could jussst grip it, we could pull it off the shelf and use it.
Are you in that spot too? I don’t care how tall you are, there’s always something just out of your reach.
I’ve been asking God for a miracle to a situation in my life. I can see a small light at the end of the tunnel, and it’s not a train. But it’s not coming fast enough for me. I don’t even know if God intends for the miracle to be on my timeline or not. All I can do is reach for Jesus and believe He is going to heal this situation.
Peace On Earth, Goodwill To Men ~ A Prayer
Bells are ringing
children singing
peace on earth
goodwill to men…
We ask You Lord today, to come. Come be with us. As Your name, Emmanuel — God with us — promises. We ask You to remove our fear. Our fear of not being enough. Not having enough. Not doing enough. Remove from our hearts the stone that is forming, hardening us to the wonder of the season. Help us to remember what this is really all about. You. Jesus.
Bring us the peace of goodwill toward men we long for Lord. We know that ultimately, this peace will not become reality until the day You come in glory and splendor to overcome the Evil One. But, You promise to give us a peace that passes all understanding and we surely could use that peace right now.
The Blessing of Belief
There comes a day when you just have to believe. You just have to trust. No matter what anyone else tells you, no matter what your own heart and mind tell you, you have to decide to walk by faith and not by sight.
So when the road is dark and all you can do is 5 miles an hour around the hair-pin turns, your hands trembling in fear, maybe it’s time to just trust God will get you safely to that destination. Whatever it is. He will lead you, because He has promised to.
Resting In Thanksgiving
I love Thanksgiving week. It’s so relaxing. Filled with family and friends and food. What could be better?
Here in a few short days, shoppers will be coming out in droves. The usual sereneness of the mall and the stores will be gone and will drive us all a little nuts.
But for this week. This week we can sit and relax. Spend time with the Lord and tell Him all the things we are thankful for.
YES HE CAN (WILL)! YES I CAN!
Do you remember the children’s song, Going on a Bear Hunt? In this silly song, the children chant along as they go hunting a bear because “I’m not scared!”. Along the way they encounter things like tall, wavy grass, a mushroom patch, a wide river, and finally a dark cave. In each situation the child sings, “Can’t go over it! Can’t go under it! Can’t go around it! Gotta go through it!”
And isn’t that what much of life is like? We encounter terrors along our journey and we try every which way to manage the situation, make it go away, or conquer it but in the end we realize, we have to go through it.
And then, we think, “There’s no way I can do this.” Then the more we think how much we cannot do something, the more we believe it. Until one day, we are just stuck right in that rut.
That’s where Philippians 4:13 comes in.
Come and Rest
I traveled down the mountain toward home with a heavy heart.
The heaviness not borne of my own troubles, but of someone else. And while I have no idea what her burdens were (or may still be), I felt the overwhelming need to pray for her.
Although the verses seemed to be for her, they comforted me as well. I knew my good, good Shepherd was speaking to me.
I pray you hear Him speaking to you, too, through these, His words. And you find rest for your soul as well.
To Believe or Not To Believe?
Sometimes my brain feels like it is pacing back and forth. The burdens on my heart fill my mind and I cannot decide which way to go with the things I have become privy to.
But, I was reminded this weekend of what belief is. Yes, I know we talked about this just a couple of weeks ago. But it bears repeating. Faith is belief in action.
I want to focus on the word “belief” though. Belief is what you know to be true. It doesn’t mean you have faith in it; it just means you believe in its existence and it could happen.
Through the Valley of the Shadow
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
Psalm 23:4
What is the scariest, darkest thing you can imagine going through? Maybe you’ve already gone through it.
In the allegory, The Pilgrim’s Progress, there is a point in which Christian must walk through The Valley of the Shadow of Death. As he looks at the valley, he knows he does not want to go through this dark place. But he is assured that if he stays on the road and does not look to the left or right, he will get across this valley safely.
This valley is so dark, deep, and scary, there are times when Christian cannot even see where his foot will land when he takes the next step. He hears voices. He’s even overcome by “the wicked ones” who whisper grievous words in his ears and he cannot tell if they are coming from his own mind, or where the accusations are truly coming from.
Is this sounding familiar to anyone? I know I’ve certainly been in this valley. I’ve walked it more times than I care to admit to or count.
But I want to assure you of this one thing: God is with you. Through every single moment of this darkness, God is right there with you.
