Pondering The Poetic Heart
Pondering the Poetic Heart is a place to guide our spirits into place of contemplative rest. As a poet, I long to encourage you to find hope and healing through the process of reflecting on God, love, life, and all things that capture the spirit through the written word.
In the month of November, I will lead us through a time of thanksgiving through my 30 Days of Thanksgiving Poems. In December we will ring the bells of Christmas. There will also be other times through the year when we will celebrate love, just for fun poetry, and more. I pray this will be a place of loving contentment for all of us.
Oh Come, Let Us Adore Him
Merry Christmas my friends! My last poem for this season is an invitation to come and adore our Savior, Christ our Lord. May you find peace, joy, and love not only this day, but every day.
Worry Free Christmas Eve
I don't want to have to worry about anything today, tonight, or tomorrow. I just want to have a good time with my family and enjoy THE reason for this season, Jesus. May you have a worry free Christmas Eve too.
Christmas Eve, Eve
Are you like me? Not sure you're ready for Christmas Day to come? Maybe you'd like another few days of weeks before it arrives? Perhaps we need to make peace with the coming special day, and make sure our hearts are in the right place.
Move Me Closer
One of my favorite Christmas Songs is called, The Shepherd's Prayer. This song is a poem about the nativity scene coming to life and the shepherd boy asking to be moved closer to the Christ Child. I, too, wish to be moved closer to Jesus at Christmastime. I pray you might be moved to do the same.
Are You Ready?
Today I was asked if I'm ready for Christmas. It's a question we are asked often during this season. My reply was, "I'm ready in spirit, but not materially." So, what about you? Are you ready for Christmas?
Thank You, Jesus, for Christmastime
A simple celebration and thank you to Jesus for coming and giving us Christmastime.
Thank You Jesus
Your birth—our joy
Your gift—so pure
Your love—divine.
Thank you, Jesus
for Christmastime.
A Fresh Perspective
We've heard it all before. The standard Christmas themes and stories. We've read the Scriptures over and over. Sometimes we just need God to give us a new perspective on our traditions. Here is my prayer to Jesus to help me see Him and this Christmas in a whole new light. In a way I've never seen or thought of it before.
If I Were a Christmas Tree
I was thinking of the sacrifices we make to help this special time of year be extra special for our children, family, and friends. And I couldn't help but wonder if the trees we turn into Christmas trees feel special for being chosen to help us make such a day so special.
