Pondering The Poetic Heart
Pondering the Poetic Heart is a place to guide our spirits into place of contemplative rest. As a poet, I long to encourage you to find hope and healing through the process of reflecting on God, love, life, and all things that capture the spirit through the written word.
In the month of November, I will lead us through a time of thanksgiving through my 30 Days of Thanksgiving Poems. In December we will ring the bells of Christmas. There will also be other times through the year when we will celebrate love, just for fun poetry, and more. I pray this will be a place of loving contentment for all of us.
the gift of waiting
I hate to wait. Don't you? Especially for Christmas and all the presents. But God says to wait on Him and He will not only give us the strength for whatever we are waiting on, but He also gives us a better present than what we thought we were asking for or even going to receive in the first place. So yes, waiting is the perfect gift.
A Child’s Christmas Day
I love Christmas. I always have. And still to this day, I cannot sleep on Christmas Eve even when I've been up most of the night wrapping gifts. I still hold all the anticipation and wonder of the most special day of the year and I just had to try to create it in this poem.
A Simple Christmas Reminder
Is your heart ready for Christmas? The way it's supposed to be? It's so easy to get consumed with all the other parts of Christmas and not allow our hearts to stop and dwell on the most important part. . .our relationship with Jesus. I'm writing this to myself more than anyone else though.
. . .once again this Christmas
I’ll remember why He came,
and my heart is pure and spotless
whiter than the snow
I see out my windowpane.
A Creative Christmas Hymn
I had fun writing this one. How many Christmas songs or lyrics can you spot in my poem?
Come on, ring those bells!
Joy to the world! Shiloh has come!
Hark the herald angels sing
May we receive this King.
A Special Christmas Prayer
I am so saddened by the tragedies over the past 24 hours across our country. And I wish I could undo all the damage. Today's poem is just a simple prayer for all those who have lost it all in the blink of an eye.
Slow Down, Don’t Miss This
During this time of hurrying and rushing, looking for the perfect gift for everyone, we need not forget to give ourselves the perfect gift of slowing down and receiving grace.
