Pondering The Poetic Heart
Pondering the Poetic Heart is a place to guide our spirits into place of contemplative rest. As a poet, I long to encourage you to find hope and healing through the process of reflecting on God, love, life, and all things that capture the spirit through the written word.
In the month of November, I will lead us through a time of thanksgiving through my 30 Days of Thanksgiving Poems. In December we will ring the bells of Christmas. There will also be other times through the year when we will celebrate love, just for fun poetry, and more. I pray this will be a place of loving contentment for all of us.
You Are Faithful
Something sure smells funky
And I wonder what it is...
Is it lurking in the pantry
Or the trash can, or the fridge?
But now I'm looking closer
Finally figured it out
It's the sin within my heart
Spilling out and all about.
In my haste to be a human
Do things needed to be done
I forgot one thing most important
The cross on which You hung.
Worship the King!
Away in a manger
many years ago
lay a little baby boy
born to change the world.
Shepherd’s and wisemen
came to adore
donkeys and sheep
kept watch at the door.
When what to their astonished
eyes did they see
a man in red clothing
on a reindeer approaching.
Forever the Same
Though the leaves change and the grasses fade
seasons come, seasons go, just as the years fly
our humanness is never the same
but still, we can trust in Your unchanging ways.
Ticktock Goes the Clock
Ticktock, ticktock goes the clock
clock, clock, ticktock, goes the clock
waiting we are waiting
a year of being still yet straining
pulsing with nervous energy
trying to walk by faith
Pray Without Ceasing
Sometimes we know not what to pray
we fall to our knees too burdened to say
a single word, or a breath to take
frustration and fears, tears cascade
O Lord, how do we make it through today?
Anxious But Able
My anxious mind won’t stop
there’s a churning deep within
though I know who holds this future
my insides keep on quaking.
Trying to cast all my cares
and I know He’s able to give
peace beyond comprehension
if I would just let Him.
In the Twilight
In the twilight of the morning
all is quiet, dark, and still
not a creature is stirring
as if the land has had its fill. . .
A Filling of Thanks
Here we are: November 1, 2020. Welcome to my 5th year sharing 30 Days of Thanksgiving with you. Some will be fun, some serious, some I hope will help you pause and ponder. Mostly I hope to just encourage us to ready our hearts for Thanksgiving...
