Pondering The Poetic Heart

Pondering the Poetic Heart is a place to guide our spirits into place of contemplative rest. As a poet, I long to encourage you to find hope and healing through the process of reflecting on God, love, life, and all things that capture the spirit through the written word.

In the month of November, I will lead us through a time of thanksgiving through my 30 Days of Thanksgiving Poems. In December we will ring the bells of Christmas. There will also be other times through the year when we will celebrate love, just for fun poetry, and more. I pray this will be a place of loving contentment for all of us.

A Journey’s Prayer for You & Me

A Journey’s Prayer for You & Me

A Journey's Prayer for You & Me: a prayer for you as you journey through life with Jesus. This poem will always hold a special place in my heart. I wrote it the night before we left San Diego, California to move to Hickory, NC. The journey was long and hard. But God kept us safe and we arrived a week later to begin a new life. That was 34 years ago.

Out of the Darkness

Out of the Darkness

Listening to God allows us to walk into the light and find the blessings of obedience to Him:

...His instructions, though clear,
didn’t make any sense
I wondered, could I trust Him?

Poetry Journaling Fun

Poetry Journaling Fun

Between now and then I will be taking a break from doing blog posts to focus on preparing my heart for the conference as well as my classes. In light of this, I thought I would share with you one of the classes I will be teaching. Poetry Journaling. Why teach poetry journaling at a writing conference? I have learned it is not just a therapeutic outlet; it also inspires creativity and can enhance a person's ability to learn how to 'show, not tell' when writing a novel.
