Pondering The Poetic Heart

Pondering the Poetic Heart is a place to guide our spirits into place of contemplative rest. As a poet, I long to encourage you to find hope and healing through the process of reflecting on God, love, life, and all things that capture the spirit through the written word.

In the month of November, I will lead us through a time of thanksgiving through my 30 Days of Thanksgiving Poems. In December we will ring the bells of Christmas. There will also be other times through the year when we will celebrate love, just for fun poetry, and more. I pray this will be a place of loving contentment for all of us.

Be Thou My Vision

Be Thou My Vision

Be our vision Lord.

As we finish this week and begin another, calm our minds and hearts. Lighten the loads and burdens we carry. Shower us with the rays of Your light and bring us to a place of peace.

May Your word guide us and keep us, until we are safely home with You.

Come Dance in the Rain With Me

Come Dance in the Rain With Me

“Come in out of the rain,” they say,
“you’ll catch your death of cold”
but this rain softly falling
beckons to my thirsty soul.

If staying out here kills me
then I’m one happy gal
because the rain so quietly whispers
secrets only God can tell.

I love the idea of learning about the Lord. Getting to know Him. Kind of feels like two friends whispering secrets into each other’s ears, doesn’t it?

I think God delights in telling us secrets. Just between us friends.

When the Week Feels Too Heavy

When the Week Feels Too Heavy

God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed,
And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
Though its waters roar and be troubled,
Though the mountains shake with its swelling.
Selah
Psalm 46:1-3

It’s Thursday, oh Lord, I’m sure getting tired
can Friday come soon, so I can retire?
Files are stacked, so many emails to answer
how can we make this end any faster?

Oh Lonely Tree

Oh Lonely Tree

Oh Lord, remind us to remember that You care. Even when we are at our loneliest, we believe no one else is thinking about us or loves us; Lord, help us to seek You with all our hearts, minds and souls.

Even the loneliest of trees—way out in the furthest parts of the earth where nothing else seems to exist—flourishes. Those trees only flourish because of You Lord. So let us flourish under Your hand of protection and care no matter where we may be planted in this season of life.

Miracle of Miracles

Miracle of Miracles

Quite a few years ago, I heard the term, "Ordinary Miracles". I wonder, is there such a thing? I have never thought of miracles as ordinary. And the least ordinary of them all, the one that still amazes me most, is God born as a baby to become the Word of God in the flesh. I hope I never get used to the miracles of God. Especially the ultimate miracle of His birth.

Simply Breathing Thanks

Simply Breathing Thanks

Sometimes we make things too complicated. We carry burdens too hard to bear we are not meant to. In these days of hardship and trials, may we remember to stop, listen, and breathe thanks to the Lord simply for giving us each day.

My Shelter

My Shelter

A quick poem of thankfulness to God my Refuge, my Strength, my Safe Place.

Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me! For my soul trusts in You; And in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge, Until these calamities have passed by. Psalm 57:1

When Roots Run Deep

When Roots Run Deep

Psalm chapter 1 assures us when we are truly blessed when we live a Godly life, we meditate on God’s word day and night, then we will be like a tree planted by streams of water that brings forth fruit. Our leaves will not wither, and we will prosper.

With the sure foundation of God’s word, we are rooted and grounded in the love of God, giving us the strength to live each day.

I can't wait to hear your thoughts on this poem and what it means to you...

Bookstore Wonderings

Bookstore Wonderings

There are two places I get creative in the most. Bookstores and Chick-fil-A. Here's my latest creation upon wandering around aimlessly in a bookstore recently. What gets your creative juices flowing? Is there a special place or room that helps you?
