Pondering The Poetic Heart
Pondering the Poetic Heart is a place to guide our spirits into place of contemplative rest. As a poet, I long to encourage you to find hope and healing through the process of reflecting on God, love, life, and all things that capture the spirit through the written word.
In the month of November, I will lead us through a time of thanksgiving through my 30 Days of Thanksgiving Poems. In December we will ring the bells of Christmas. There will also be other times through the year when we will celebrate love, just for fun poetry, and more. I pray this will be a place of loving contentment for all of us.
Just Breathe
Dedicated to special friend who told me tonight she's just not "in the mood". I understand. I've had the same problem. But Jesus wants us to rest and let Him fill us with His peace during this season.
Still...
Be still.
let your mind ease
your cares cease. . .
All I Want for Christmas
Here's my Christmas list, what is on yours?
I want to see my family
all gathered round the tree
To not just give each other presents
but the love and grace we need.
Snow White Grace
Have you ever thought of snow blanketing the ground as God's forgiveness and grace?
Snow falls like grace
blanketing the ground
in snow white forgiveness
ushering in a season
of rest to parched souls.
DEAR CHRISTMAS
Just a little love letter to my favorite holiday of the year . . . Dear Christmas. . .
The Greatest Gift
Lord,
the day has ended
thought now I could breathe
but
I still have so much to do
to put things under our tree.
Perhaps we have mistaken
material gifts to be
the most important aspect
of our Christmas theme.
Love Came Down
Some say Christmas is not Christmas without Christ. Jesus Christ, the one born to save us from our sins. What say you?
Love came down
in a most unlikely way
a simple babe
in a manger he lay
Bethlehem his home he made.
Shepherds came, angels sang
of peace on earth good will to men
2,000 years later
we still celebrate him.
Christmas Morning Memories
Welcome to 25 Days of Christmas Poems 2021! I thought we'd start out reminiscing about Christmas morning. So please enjoy this short poem, Christmas Morning Memories.
Prayer of Thanksgiving
Well, here we are. It's the end of November, which means this is the last poem of our 30 days. I hope you've enjoyed them and maybe even some have spoken to your heart in some way.
So, here we are, the end of the month
I’d like to share one thing more
a prayer for us all, to finish the year off
in gratefulness to our Lord.
Windowpane Prayers
Thankful to God who answers our prayers. No matter how big or small they are. No matter if you are very young or old. God answers prayer.
The dreariest weather ever
fog and mist settle
there’s no possible way
her prayers would reach heaven.
