Hidden Treasures of Wisdom

Hidden Treasures of Wisdom

Wisdom becomes the treasure.

I don’t want to just dream a dream. I want to fulfill that dream.
I don’t want to know about God. I want to seek Him with my whole heart.
I don’t want to write about God. I want to inspire and encourage others to seek after Him.

Wisdom goes deeper. It whispers. It waits to be spoken. Wisdom is the thoughts that come after agonizing prayer. Through much counsel. It comes in the quiet.

Oh How Excellent!

Oh How Excellent!

I stand amazed.
God’s creation overwhelming me.
Its vibrant, brilliant colors
the way rivers flow
and ocean’s billow
I cannot comprehend
their depth or width
how the waters meet sky
creating a horizon of endless sight.
And I wonder
how does He make it all just…so?

So
eye-catching
breath-taking
mesmerizing
I can feel my lungs evaporating
hyper venting…

I wanted to pocket it. I tried to savor each moment of each day. Especially the times out on that balcony. Don’t get me wrong. I got my feet sandy and wet. I walked with my hubby along the shoreline at sunset. (And sunsets are sooooooo spectacular at the beach!) But that quiet time sitting on the balcony in the breeze was just the thing I needed to recharge, renew, and rest.

Thanksgiving in July

Thanksgiving in July

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Colossians 3:15-17

So for this week, I want to begin with a poem of thanksgiving to our Lord. I want to begin this time with Him in gratitude. For in all we do, we should and need to do it with a heart of thankfulness.

Won’t your heart join mine today in thanksgiving to the Lord?

The Art of Paying Attention

The Art of Paying Attention

She walks each day at least 3 times
maybe more
with or without the dog
through countryside and to the river
with ease
she sits under an apple tree
sometimes she spies the horse or cow
sometimes it’s just the rustling
of leaves somehow
that causes her to stop and ponder
look to the sky
and hear each word He whispers
to her.

I want to learn this art of stopping to smell the flowers like she does… I wish I knew her secret. But then again, I do know her secret. I just don’t know how to stop and pay attention like she does…

Next week I’ll be at the beach. I wonder. What will He have for me to see? What will I hear? What will I write? Will I find time to stop, pay attention, and listen for His whispers? Or will I get too caught up in the adventure?

Dance of the Leaves

Dance of the Leaves

@Marcie_Bridges For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, Saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’ Isaiah 41:13     The breeze plays with the leaves whispering, “Come, follow me.”   But the leaves hang on for dear life afraid to take flight and they whisper back,...

The Darkest Hours

The Darkest Hours

“It’s such a hard and holy thing (in our minds), when Jesus took it (every sin) by Himself, all the lights went out.” ¹

Perhaps it’s too deep to think on. Perhaps this part of it all, is too much for us as humans to comprehend. Perhaps it’s why we fixate on the physical part of the crucifixion—His death—but we can’t stare at the spiritual part of it.

Beaten. Ridiculed. Spat upon. Nailed to a cross. Unrecognizable. They continued to mock Him as He hung there for everyone to stare at.

Still…there is one agony remaining I think we truly miss.

Voyages, Pathways and Passages: Traveling with God Day by Day

Voyages, Pathways and Passages: Traveling with God Day by Day

An intimate and inspiring chronicle of a triumphant journey of faith.
Her name is Traveler, and she comes from a long line of Sojourners. Accepting a compass from her father, she sets out on her own journey, on the usual path. Her travels take her on a new direction, however, when she meets a faithful Companion who invites her to leave the broad path on which she is traveling. She simply has to choose to go through the little narrow gate waiting in the distance. Traveler does not realize that this choice will take her to new heights of jubilation but also will bring new experiences of desperation and fear. From the amazement of Long Look Mountain to the hesitation at the City of Rest, Traveler continues to learn.
Soon, though, her path changes. Now spinning in the midst of pain and self-doubt, she searches for strength and understanding from her new Companion. Will this new assurance be enough to get her through The Forest of Fears and experience the supposed joy awaiting her at the Homeplace? Traveler must face the reality that to succeed in her journey, she will be forced to endure heartbreak and testing unlike anything she has yet experienced.

Prepare the Way

Prepare the Way

So often we fear the road ahead. We become afraid of stepping out and doing what God is asking us to do. But, look at our verse for this week and notice what the Lord says in Joshua 3:4 (and I’m paraphrasing):

Stay a ways back from the ark. Keep your distance because you haven’t gone this way before. You need to be able to see which way to go.

In other words, what Jesus is saying to us through Joshua is, “Follow Me so you can see clearly which way to go because you have never gone this way before.”

Fear not. Be strong and courageous. And go in the strength of the Lord.

The Adversity of Change

The Adversity of Change

In their hearts humans plan their course,
but the Lord establishes their steps. Proverbs 16:9

Reveal Your heart to me, O Lord,
that I may see You
everyday in everything
and in every way.

Hold me close
encircle me with Your presence
that I might stand
against all evil.

God’s ways are not our ways and God’s thoughts are not our thoughts. So when we face a decision that impacts our life in a major way, we must remember to make the decision in the framework of prayer.

Prayer becomes the focus of whether we go or we don’t go. Whether we do or don’t do. Whether we speak or don’t speak.

Prayer can lead us on the path we think we should be going on; or, it could point us to a detour.
